Hamstra Heating & Cooling follows all industry standards to insure correct system sizing and to save you money on your energy bills!

At Hamstra Heating & Cooling, Inc. we believe it is our responsibility to provide our clients with information that will allow you to save money. We are one of Tucson Electric Power’s (TEP) “Efficient Home Program” participating contractors, have six Building Performance Institute certified team members and take pride in the fact that all of our installations are Energy Star Qualified.

At Hamstra we offer various options that could considerably reduce your electric bill and we invite you to call us for your home energy audit.

TEP Efficient Home Program: Home Energy Audit

With the TEP Efficient Home Program, there are two ways to save money on your electric bill:

1. Have a trained technician perform an efficiency screening on your existing equipment and confirm in writing the TEP rebates you are eligible for. We do this by:

  • Checking your duct work
  • Running a leakage test
  • Checking the overall home infiltration
  • Making sure the system is operating properly

2. Replace your existing equipment with qualifying new equipment and have your ducts sealed.

To double-check all of our work, Hamstra will use CheckMe! a computerized diagnostic, verification, and quality assurance system to insure that your system is running properly.

At Hamstra we always adhere to Energy Star Program standards

Proper Equipment Sizing:

Proper sizing of your new unit is everything. It is essential to getting the best performance and comfort. Many homeowners believe that bigger is always better when buying new heating and cooling equipment. A system that is too large will not keep your home comfortable because of frequent “on/off” cycling. Incorrect sizing can also put stress on system components and shorten equipment life.

At Hamstra, we follow all industry guidelines. With an ENERGY STAR  and Air Conditioning Contractors of America Quality Installation, your contractor will make sure that you get a system that is the right size for your home.  To insure proper sizing, Hamstra will come out to the home and perform a Manual J load calculation to properly size the system and present options to help you make the most efficient decision regarding replacing your old system. Manual J load calculation takes into account home size, orientation of windows and insulation.

Duct Sealing:

Duct Sealing helps ensure that your new system delivers balanced air to all the rooms of your home. Contractors using ENERGY STAR Quality Installation guidelines will evaluate your duct system to identify leaks, and then seal them using mastic, metal-backed tape, or an aerosol-based sealant. In some instances, your contractor may advise you that it is necessary to replace or add ducts.
