How’s it Flowing?
If one of our professional technicians has visited your home or office, you’ve likely heard about the importance of comfort system maintenance. Aside from protecting your system and avoiding high electric bills, these maintenance visits can also help protect you and your home from thousands of dollars in damage.
As your air conditioner removes the heat from your indoor air, it also removes humidity (moisture from the air) in the form of condensation. This condensation can add up to anywhere from 5 to 15 gallons of water per day during high-humidity months and is drained from your indoor coil section in the condensate drain line. If your drain line becomes obstructed by dust/dirt, insects, or other debris, that water will still drain SOMEWHERE – just not where it should.
Condensate drain overflows can cause damage not only to vital and expensive A/C system components, but also walls, ceilings, flooring, insulation, and other building components; and even cause mold and other biological growth if the issue goes unnoticed. A few gallons of water may not seem like much, but it only takes a day or two for extensive building damage to occur. Believe us – we see it all the time!
With our 3 different levels of annual maintenance programs available, we can recommend the best plan for your needs to ensure your comfort system remains in tip-top shape and your condensate drain keeps flowing (not flooding). For an added layer of protection, we offer (and highly recommend) the installation of AquaGuard condensate safety devices. The AquaGuard will identify a condensate overflow condition before it becomes a hazard, shut down your system, and prevent any additional condensation from filling your drain pan until the issue is corrected.
With summer here and the kids out of school, let’s keep the pools outside of our homes and offices. Be sure to schedule your annual maintenance visit, ask about our condensate safety solutions, and keep those drains flowing!
